I’m no physicist...obviously!! ... just a layman who’s been thinking a lot about recent developments in quantum physics and consciousness studies. And the more I read, the more it seems like we’re circling around an uncomfortable but obvious question: what if the universe only exists because two completely different fields...nothingness and consciousness...are interacting with each other? I know that sounds abstract, maybe even mystical, but stay with me. I’m trying to stay as simple and elegant as possible. This is just me putting two and two together from the outside looking in. We already know from quantum physics that the wave function...the mathematical description of a system...exists in a state of pure potential until it’s observed. Once observation happens, the wave collapses into a definite state. But the part that keeps nagging at me is the recent experiments where when the wave function is looped and constantly observed, it begins to stabilize in unexpected ways. It’s almost like the act of observation doesn’t just collapse reality...it stitches it into a pattern, a kind of ongoing coherence that wouldn’t happen on its own. So here’s where my simple theory comes in. What if there’s always been two fundamental 'fields'...one is a field of pure potential (what we casually call 'nothing') and the other is the field of pure awareness (what we call consciousness)? The universe we see, the stars, the atoms, even time itself, would be the result of these two fields interacting. Not because one created the other... but because when consciousness locks its attention onto the field of potential, that interaction forces stability where there was only raw chaos. And maybe the longer consciousness loops its attention, the more the universe appears solid, real, continuous. I’m just wondering out loud if the universe is less of a 'thing' and more of a process...a friction point between nothingness and awareness... a place where potential is continuously being stabilized by recursive observation. And maybe that’s why when no one's watching, things drift back into probabilities... but when consciousness locks on, they harden into reality. To me, this feels both ancient and cutting edge...almost like what the Vedantic philosophers hinted at, but now mirrored in the patterns of quantum behavior. I’m sure people way smarter than me could shred this apart mathematically. And maybe they should. But I can’t shake the feeling that if we stop thinking of the universe as 'something that came from nothing' and start seeing it as 'what happens when nothingness and observation collide in an endless loop'... we might be staring at a simpler, more elegant explanation than we’ve dared admit. I’m just a guy trying to bridge the gaps... but maybe the bridge has been here all along.
