This poor girl was not going to make it in the wild much longer. She couldn’t stand or even lift her head when she arrived at the clinic. She was not responsive to handling. Rodenticide poisoning is the likely cause, possibly complicated by West Nile Virus, 📷: Rachel Frank t.co/OaaUCYEwDK

We immediately provided oxygen and fluids, plus treatment for anticoagulant rodenticide. She held on, but the situation looked bleak for the first couple of days. As you can see, Valkyrie has made a huge recovery. She’s able to perch, she’s defensive, eating and ready for transfer to our friends at The Raptor Trust for the rest of her rehab before release.
@wildbirdfund Beautiful and deadly.
@laurelworlds High compliments for a hawk. 😍
@wildbirdfund What a stunner, thank you WBF and the kind person who brought her in!
@wildbirdfund It's great to see her looking so much better! 🥰
@wildbirdfund For rats or pigeons, she is truly a Chooser of the Slain and for humans she is a fiercely elegant bird.
@wildbirdfund Aw, she's magnificent.
@wildbirdfund So good 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@wildbirdfund She looks good!! Thank you for your work. 🤍
@wildbirdfund Looking GREAT! 💙
Young barn owl perching in front of what used to be her and her siblings’ home, a place where they could sleep, eat, and take short flights without being disturbed. Yesterday their nest was removed and a crime against wildlife was committed. Cont’d t.co/C2qYn09vuk

One of the UWS barn owl fledglings roosted in the open yesterday after its nest was destroyed. This young, inexperienced bird didn’t know to conceal itself and was mobbed by songbirds all day. Thankfully all five fledglings were later accounted for. Cont’d #birdcpp t.co/qrmYRLzj1M

This exhausted-looking Barn Owl is one of 5 young owls on Manhattan’s UWS. Their family’s nesting site was dismantled yesterday — illegally — putting these vulnerable owls at risk! They deserve protection, not displacement! Let’s give them back their home!🦉💕 #birdcpp t.co/0si6WYkJ1l

10/30/26 I wanted a close-up shot of Astoria but I think I made her look like an Emu ! She looks more like her plump iridescent self in video 2 . Either way you’re the prettiest Turkey Princess , Astoria ❤️🦃❤️ #birdcpp t.co/GI3kgufcgs
