The #Argos do a wonderful and necessary job of acknowledging that #BMO Field and the #CNE rest on #Indigenous land. As pertaining to any significant group, however, timing is important. In November 2023, the #Argonauts sold out much of BMO for the Eastern final after a record-tying 16-2 season. The pre-game environment with the #Alouettes in town was raucous. But, just prior to kickoff came a solemn ceremony on behalf of the Indigenous cause. And, it took the starch out of the place. It occurred at the absolute worst time for a playoff game in football - the immediate moments before kickoff. Which a home team should always use strategically. This judgement error contributed to the Argos falling behind early and getting trounced, 38-17, for their only home defeat of the season. I’ll assume that #MLSE and Pinball Clemons took notice. Another big crowd is expected for Saturday’s crossover East semifinal against #Winnipeg. Can the home team avoid making the same timing error? #CFL #BlueBombers #GreyCup #Leafs
